Why Book Attractions Through Trip.com
- English interface — listings, descriptions, and booking process all in English
- International card payment — no need for WeChat Pay or Alipay
- Skip-the-queue — QR code tickets let you bypass the ticket window at many attractions
- Bundled tours — guided tours with English-speaking guides available for major attractions
- Cancellation protection — most tickets have free cancellation up to 24 hours before
Some major attractions (Palace Museum in Beijing, certain national parks) have daily visitor caps and sell out weeks in advance. Book as soon as your dates are confirmed — don't wait until you arrive.
Finding and Booking Attraction Tickets
1. Search for the attraction
Open Trip.com and tap 'Things to Do' or 'Attractions'. Search for the attraction name in English. Trip.com recognizes all major Chinese attractions in English (e.g. 'Forbidden City', 'West Lake', 'Zhangjiajie').
2. Browse ticket options
Tap the attraction listing. You'll see multiple ticket options: standard admission, combo tickets (attraction + boat ride, etc.), and guided tours. Each option shows the price, what's included, and the cancellation policy.
3. Select your date and ticket type
Choose your visit date. Some attractions require a specific entry time slot — select the time you want. Choose the number of tickets (adult, child, etc.).
4. Enter visitor details
Most attractions require the visitor's name and passport number. Enter these for each ticket. This is verified at the entrance gate.
5. Pay and save your QR code
Pay with your international card. Your QR code ticket appears in Trip.com under 'My Trips'. Screenshot it as backup. At the entrance, show the QR code to be scanned.
Booking Guided Tours
Trip.com also offers guided tours for major attractions — half-day and full-day tours with English-speaking guides, often including transport from your hotel.
1. Search for tours
In the attraction listing, look for the 'Tours' tab. Or search directly for 'Great Wall tour' or 'Chengdu panda tour'. Filter by language to find English-language tours.
2. Read the tour details carefully
Check what's included: guide, transport, entrance fees, meals. Check the meeting point — some tours pick you up from your hotel, others meet at a central location. Check the group size — small group tours (under 15 people) are usually better than large bus tours.
3. Book and confirm
Book the tour and pay. You'll receive a confirmation with meeting point details and the guide's contact information. Save this — you'll need it on the day.
For the Great Wall, book a tour that goes to Mutianyu or Jinshanling rather than Badaling — these sections are less crowded and more scenic, and most English-language tours go there.
Practical Tips
- Combo tickets: Many attractions offer combo tickets that bundle multiple sites at a discount. Check if there's a combo option before buying individual tickets.
- Validity: Check the ticket validity period — some tickets are valid only on the specific date you select, others for a range of dates.
- Refunds: Most Trip.com attraction tickets allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Check the specific policy before booking.
- Language: Trip.com's attraction descriptions are in English, but the attraction itself (signs, audio guides) may be in Chinese only. Ask Trip.com if English audio guides are available when booking.
- Peak times: Chinese national holidays (Golden Week in October, Spring Festival in January/February) see massive crowds at popular attractions. Avoid these periods if possible, or book well in advance.
