How to Buy Attraction and Movie Tickets via Meituan

Last updated: 2026-04-30

Meituan
View Guide → sells tickets to hundreds of attractions, theme parks, and cinemas across China, often at 10–30% below the gate price. Buying through Meituan also means you can skip the ticket queue at popular attractions — you scan a QR code at the entrance instead of waiting in line.

Buying Attraction Tickets

  1. 1. Search for the attraction

Tap the search bar in Meituan and type the attraction name in English or Chinese. Meituan recognizes major attraction names in English (e.g. 'Forbidden City', 'West Lake', 'Chengdu Panda Base').

  2. 2. Select the attraction and browse tickets

Tap the attraction listing. Scroll down to see available ticket types: adult, student, child, combo tickets. Each ticket shows the Meituan price vs. the original gate price.

  3. 3. Choose your date and ticket type

Select your visit date. Some attractions require a specific entry time slot — choose the slot you want. Select the number of tickets.

  4. 4. Enter visitor information

Most attractions require the visitor's name and ID number. For foreign tourists, enter your passport number. This is checked at the entrance gate.

  5. 5. Pay and save the QR code

Pay with WeChat Pay or Alipay. A QR code ticket appears in Meituan under 'My Orders'. Screenshot it as backup. At the entrance, open the ticket and scan the QR code at the gate.

Some popular attractions (Palace Museum, certain national parks) have daily visitor caps and sell out weeks in advance. Check availability early and book as soon as your dates are confirmed.

Buying Movie Tickets

Meituan is also China's main movie ticket platform. Tickets are typically ¥20–40, compared to ¥50–80 at the box office.

  1. 1. Find a cinema

Tap the 'Movies' section in Meituan. Select your city. Browse current films — many international films are shown in their original language with Chinese subtitles (look for '原版' or 'IMAX' listings).

  2. 2. Select showtime and seats

Tap a film → select a cinema and showtime → choose your seats on the seating map. Seats shown in gray are taken; green are available.

  3. 3. Pay and collect

Pay with WeChat Pay or Alipay. You'll receive a booking code. At the cinema, use the self-service kiosk to print your ticket using the booking code, or show the QR code directly at the entrance.

Practical Tips

  • Combo deals: Many attractions offer combo tickets (e.g. attraction + boat ride, or two attractions together) at a better price than buying separately.
  • Refunds: Attraction tickets are often non-refundable once purchased. Movie tickets can usually be refunded up to 30 minutes before the showtime.
  • Language: Meituan's ticket section is mostly in Chinese. Use Google Translate's camera mode to read ticket descriptions, or look for the price and date fields which are universal.
  • Validity: Check the ticket validity period — some tickets are valid for a specific date only, others for a range of dates.
