How to Pay for Didi via Alipay or WeChat

Last updated: 2026-04-30

Didi charges your linked payment method automatically when the ride ends — you don't need to do anything at the destination. The key is linking

before your first ride. Both work equally well; use whichever you've already set up with a foreign card.

Linking Alipay to Didi

  1. 1. Open Didi and go to Payment settings

Tap the profile icon (top left) → Payment. You'll see the current payment methods on file.

  2. 2. Add Alipay

Tap Add Payment Method → Alipay. Didi will redirect you to the Alipay app to authorize the connection. Tap Authorize in Alipay.

  3. 3. Return to Didi

After authorizing, you're returned to Didi. Alipay now appears as a payment option. Set it as the default by tapping the radio button next to it.

Linking WeChat Pay to Didi

  1. 1. Open Didi and go to Payment settings

Tap the profile icon → Payment → Add Payment Method → WeChat Pay.

  2. 2. Authorize in WeChat

Didi opens WeChat and asks you to authorize the payment connection. Tap Confirm in WeChat.

  3. 3. Set as default

Back in Didi, tap the radio button next to WeChat Pay to make it the default payment method.

Linking an International Card Directly

Didi also accepts Visa and Mastercard directly, without going through Alipay or WeChat Pay.

  1. 1. Go to Payment in Didi

Tap profile icon → Payment → Add Payment Method → Credit/Debit Card.

  2. 2. Enter card details

Enter your card number, expiry date, and CVV. Didi accepts most Visa and Mastercard cards issued outside China.

  3. 3. Verify with your bank

Your bank may send a verification code or require 3D Secure authentication. Complete the verification to activate the card.

If your international card is declined, try Alipay or WeChat Pay instead — both accept foreign cards and have higher success rates with Chinese payment processors than direct card entry.

How Payment Works on Each Ride

When your ride ends, Didi automatically charges the linked payment method. You'll see a push notification with the fare and a receipt in the app. No tipping is expected or prompted.

If a charge fails (e.g., card declined mid-trip), Didi will prompt you to add a new payment method before you can book your next ride.

Practical Tips

  • Multiple payment methods: You can have several methods saved and switch between them before booking a ride.
  • Receipts: All receipts are stored in the app under Profile → My Trips. Useful for expense reports.
  • Refunds: If a ride is cancelled or overcharged, refunds go back to the original payment method within 3–7 business days.
